Part two is the other side of the coin that makes it hard for me to cast doubts on West Elm. When it comes to complaints people share with me regarding their disappointing online purchases, I have a hard time thinking - well maybe you should have hired someone to properly specify the upholstery that fits your lifestyle?
A lot of friends complain that the upholstery on the items they receive pill immediately. So, I ask them about pets, kids, use. And I am often disappointed with their responses. To put it kindly and generously, the first-tier fabric options are often not durable enough to withstand the needs of a family of two, no pets, and both working 40+ hours a week.
I'm about to go down a dark hole and I won't. All I have to say is that when you order your furniture make sure the rub test on the upholstery is a minimum of 100,000 rubs. 250,000 would be stellar but it might make the furniture piece cost prohibitive.
